Triptych on a Solar Eclipse is a digital, interactive work about solar eclipses, light, and space. The work consists of a system poem that generates one poem for each of the 72 cycles in Saros 126, along with three short video works titled Apertures, Apparitions, and Auguries. It takes the solar eclipse of 12. august 2026 as its point of departure and connects the subject to both Louis Hjelmslev's glossematics from the 30s and David Bowie's fascination with space, including references to 'Starman', 'Like a Rocket Man', and 'Blackstar'.
The triptych was originally exhibited at the university observatory in Cork, Ireland (MTU Blackrock Observatory), and after the eclipse it was versioned into a digital work. Saros 126 began in 1178 and ends in 2459, and the work is expected to remain online for several years. Sun is released under IMT Licens, and visitors may use parts of it for their own artistic purposes. Free admission.
