This unique weekend workshop explores section throwing, deconstruction and transformation with Polish ceramicist Aleksander Glich, who works at the international Guldagergård Ceramic Research Center.
The workshop covers the techniques that the artist uses in his practice: wheel-throwing, assembly and deconstruction of both cylindrical and spherical forms. You will gain insight into the artistic ideas and analyses behind his work – methods learned during his studies and apprenticeships in Korea, Poland and France. Although the focus is on wheel-throwing, the ideas and methods apply equally to those working with hand-modelled forms.
Aleksander Glich introduces participants to using spontaneity and personal interpretation in ceramic design. He holds a Master's degree from the Polish Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design and a Master's degree in Polish literature from the University of Warsaw. His work has been exhibited internationally and is featured at ClayTopia on Guldagergård this summer.
Workshop schedule
The course runs both days from 11:00 to 15:30, with the opportunity to continue independent work until 18:00 under guidance and assistance from potter Bjarne Christensen. There are limited spaces, so places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
