Svartsot has been a defining force in Danish folk metal since their formation in 2005. They blend folk and medieval music with the volume and intensity of death metal — bagpipes, whistles and mandolins meet heavy guitars, growled vocals and a powerful rhythmic foundation. Drawing inspiration from Danish folk songs, historical narratives and ancient legends, they transform these stories into contemporary metal art.
Over six albums, the band has refined their sound, most recently on 'Peregrinus', released to mark their 20th anniversary and produced by Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studios. They have performed at major festivals such as Wacken, Graspop, Roskilde Festival and Copenhell and are known for energetic, celebratory live shows without compromising the music's heaviness.
Deadflesh as opener is an old-school death metal band from Roskilde, active since 1994. Inspired by bands such as Bolt Thrower, Obituary, Autopsy and early Six Feet Under, they deliver classic death metal brutality with heavy riffs, crushing grooves and guttural vocals — a direct and high-energy live experience.
On Friday 19 December, this will be the last chance in 2024 to see Svartsot live in Copenhagen. Standing room only — if sold out in advance, tickets are not available at the door. Doors open one hour before showtime.
