A timely debate on nuclear power's role in Denmark's green energy future. Nuclear power has returned to the Danish energy debate after decades of being set aside. In response to climate challenges, rising energy demands, and the desire for stable energy prices, the question is now being asked: Can nuclear power contribute to Danish energy supply?
A recent Voxmeter survey shows that 57.8% of Danes believe Denmark should explore nuclear power possibilities, while 48.3% simultaneously want more focus on wind and solar. This reflects a population seeking a more open, technology-neutral discussion about the future of energy.
The government has initiated analytical work on new nuclear technologies and small modular reactors. CEPOS therefore arranges this conversation about what role nuclear power should play. Should Denmark continue with solar, wind, and grid expansion, or should the door open for CO2-free nuclear power as a stable energy source? The debate focuses on how a green transition becomes realistic, economically viable, and robust.
Speakers: Lars Aagard, former Minister for Climate, Energy and Supply (M), and Jan Blomgren, Professor of Nuclear Physics. Additional speakers to be confirmed.
