This is a personal guided tour led by Carina, who shares her life story and experiences through the streets. She will talk about her journey through violence, homelessness, prison and mental illness – and how today she works as a seller of the Hus Forbi newspaper, as a guide and a wife.
Carina's journey began with an insecure childhood marked by violence and alcohol at home as well as bullying at school. After her younger brother's death during her teenage years and the loss of her first daughter, she found herself without a roof over her head. She slept on the streets, on sofas and struggled with mental health issues that led to a borderline diagnosis and later imprisonment. Today she stands on the other side – married, mother to two dogs and active in her community.
Carina's story is about the feeling of not belonging – neither to herself nor to the world around her. She shares this tour to give people like her a voice and to show that you can come through even the darkest times. Her goal is to challenge prejudices and show that life can change radically if you get a chance.
