An engaging evening about the state and future of Øresund. Three leading experts present their research on the marine environment's greatest challenges and proposals for solutions to ensure a healthy strait for both nature and people.
Øresund is among Denmark's most species-rich waters and home to seals, porpoises, cod and tuna. Large areas are now designated as marine national park, but the marine environment faces pressure from urban development, nutrients, chemicals and climate change. Projects such as Lynetteholm raise important questions about development's impact and the EU's requirements for good ecological and chemical status by December 2027 at the latest.
Speakers
- Lea Gram Jacobi (Danish Nature Conservation Association Gentofte) – Øresund's current status, EU water framework directive and Lynetteholm's impact
- Henriette Selck (RUC professor and senior consultant, Think Tank Hav) – Øresund's chemical status and hazardous substances
- Stiig Markager (Aarhus University professor) – Ecological status and development perspectives
The evening offers the option of voluntary harbour swimming at 4.30 PM, concluded with mussel soup and networking time (requires separate ticket).
