Join us for an in-depth exploration of Nobel laureate Anne Carson's remarkable literary works. We examine the finer details of her challenging yet rewarding texts—the significance of line breaks, comma placement, word choice, and metaphor selection. Led by translator Mathilde Moestrup, we read closely together to understand what gives Carson's writing its distinctive power.
No advance preparation is necessary; all you need is a love of reading. We distribute texts, read aloud, and work collectively to uncover the depth within her language. This shared approach elevates the reading experience for everyone.
About Anne Carson
Born in 1950, Anne Carson is one of contemporary literature's most inspiring voices. In October 2024, she was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. Her poems, essays, and translations form a rich repository of wisdom, linguistic elegance, passion, and profound emotion. As cultural editor Rebekka Bundgaard of Atlas notes, "Her books are small treasures. Not because they describe life's beauty, but because each sentence feels like a gift you can unwrap a thousand times and it will still feel new."
This event is arranged in collaboration with ATLAS Magazine and Føljeton, who together produce the literary newsletter Læsevejr.
